I know the title sounds a little misleading so don’t let that mislead you! 😉
But the fact is that there
is WAS a notorious prison right beside Berjaya Times Square, this prison was known as Pudu Prison.
Pudu Prison was built between 1891-1895 when Malaysia was still under British colonial government. It took 320,000 to build and they used convicts as the workforce. Pudu Prison witnessed many executions of Malaysia’s most notorious criminals. Pudu Prison holds lots of history and its very own stories. Yes, ghost stories included. Rumor has it that Pudu Prison is HAUNTED as FU*K! Other stories go untold and some were passed on through word of mouth from one generation to another.
Pudu Prison was once opened to the public, however, as attendance from Malaysians are low, they shut the prison down and did not retain the prison as a historical site to pave way for a brand new building. Modernization at work here.
As of this writing, only the front gate is left standing. A reminder of Malaysia’s gruesome past, and somehow serves as a warning to others.
Enough of depressing tales, here’s a rainbow to cheer you up! And a double one at that! Yes, a DOUBLE RAINBOW!
Berjaya Times Square
Moving on to something more lighthearted, shall we?
We now take a look at Berjaya Times Square, which is directly beside Pudu Prison. Berjaya Times Square is more than “just another shopping center”. It’s the largest in the country and has a real Theme Park called; “Cosmo’s World”. It has offices, serviced apartments and even a hotel, all integrated into one huge complex.
This is where we stayed for the remainder of our trip.
If your’re interested in seeing how the suites look like, feel free to browse through our gallery, here.

Oh, and did i forget to mention? The view from our suite was fabulous!
In Malaysia, especially in Kuala Lumpur, there are shopping centers with ice skating rinks, a swimming pool, a canal, but a shopping center with a Theme Park like Berjaya Times Square is very rare. The theme park even has a “Kick-Ass” roller coaster!
There are also more than 1000 specialty retail shops and 65 food outlets to suit every imaginable taste. And then there’s also department stores, which offers a unique range of merchandise from women swear to home appliances; and the first-ever IMAX 2-D and 3-D theater in the country.
Cosmo’s World is the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia.
It’s located right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s central business district. Behind Sungei Wang, Imbi Plaza and Next to Pudu Prison. In the shopping center is also a hotel: the Berjaya Times Square Hotel – with 900 rooms.
It’s an adult and children theme park with an abundant variety of entertainment and rides.
The park will be filled with state-of-the-art rides, live performances, themed shops, snacks outlets, games as well as family fun.
If you want to visit the park, make your way to the eighth level of Berjaya Times Square. On that floor is “Como’s World”.
Tickets for adults costs: RM25
Tickets for Children till the age of twelve costs: RM15
But if you’ve booked a package for a 3 days/2 nights stay in the Berjaya Times Square Hotel, you get 1 day free in Cosmo’s World.
The story of Cosmo’s World
“Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away, nothing seems to be going right for our beloved mad scientist, Professor Cosmo. His latest creation, a galactic theme park for all beings in the universe, has been demolished by an unfortunate accident caused by his empty-headed sidekick, Ooort the robo-droid.”
“The clumsy assistant inadvertently caused a malfunction in the computer system while carrying out his normal day-to-day routine of cleaning up. With this mishap, Professor Cosmo must now find a new location to rebuild his theme park. Together with his intergalactic friends, they have searched near and far to find the perfect site. At last, they have discovered Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s largest shopping icon. They have successfully built a beautiful and astonishing theme park for everyone to enjoy. Now all that matters to Professor Cosmo is to give laughter and fun to everyone…’It’s Playtime!”
“WOW!” – What a story!
The Theme Park is divided in attractions for the for teenagers/adults and children: the Galaxy Station and the Fantasy Garden.
The Galaxy Station is the ultimate adventure for adults and teenagers. It’s a thrill-seeker’s paradise.
In the Fantasy Garden is everybody, from all ages is welcome to have fun. You’ll feel a sense of serenity as you take scenic journey through the Fantasy Garden.
